Background
My background is in software engineering, not finance. I don't have any professional financial credentials, nor am I a registered investment advisor. What I bring to this project is a technical mindset: hypothesis-driven testing, transparent data collection, and rigorous analysis.
OppenFolio started as a question: Can automation and real-time management extract more income from high-yield assets than is lost to NAV decay? Rather than backtest on historical data, I decided to test this hypothesis with real capital and share the results publicly.
My Approach
This project reflects my engineering background:
- Systems Thinking: The portfolio is structured like a reactor—a protective shell containing a reactive core, with feedback loops for adaptive rebalancing.
- Data-Driven Decisions: Every trade is logged, every metric is tracked, and all analysis is performed using Python automation with live API data.
- Transparency: No cherry-picking results. All trades, gains, and losses are published in real-time. What you see is what actually happened.
- Continuous Improvement: The strategy evolves based on live results, not theoretical models. Feedback loops drive allocation changes.
What This Is NOT
I am not a financial advisor. OppenFolio is my personal portfolio experiment, shared publicly for educational purposes. Nothing on this site constitutes financial advice or investment recommendations. I am learning as I go, testing hypotheses with real money, and documenting the results—both successes and failures.
If you're considering any investment decisions, please consult with a qualified financial professional. My goal is to share data and methodology, not to tell anyone what to do with their money.
Why Share This Publicly?
Three reasons:
- Accountability: Public tracking keeps the experiment honest. No retroactive adjustments, no hiding losses.
- Learning in Public: Sharing the process helps me think more clearly and invites feedback from others exploring similar strategies.
- Contribution: If this data helps someone else understand high-yield ETFs better, or inspires someone to build their own system, that's valuable.
Get in Touch
I'm always interested in hearing from fellow builders, skeptics, and yield-seekers. If you have questions, feedback, or want to discuss the methodology, feel free to reach out.
